Driving Instructor Consultant

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

As a driving instructor/coach, your tasks will be to teach practical and theoretical driving notions in order to train drivers for a safe, cooperative and responsible behavior in accordance with the Road Safety Education Program of the SAAQ. You will guide the learner driver during driving exercises in various traffic conditions. You will help him/her to identify his/her strengths and weaknesses and you will correct the latter. Finally, you will have to evaluate the acquired skills of each apprentice at the end of each session.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Organizational skills
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness: you will have to be able to deal on your own with certain problems on the road
  • Highly adaptable
  • Excellent eyesight
  • Good command of English (basic knowledge of Inuktitut, an asset)

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ recent relevant experience
  • Has held a driving licence class 5 (automobile) issued by the SAAQfor at least 2 years.
  • A good SAAQ driving record: no more than 4 demerit points.
  • Holds a high school diploma (DES) or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable about the teaching methods with the Virage Simulation simulator recognized by the SAAQ or ready to follow training so as to teach with the simulator.
  • Holds a driving instructor’s permit issued by the AQTR.
  • PESR will be given priority, but we will also take into account PESR coaches who teach the driving practical course.

Salary & benefits:

Consultant contract at an hourly rate of $50.

 In addition to salary, you may be eligible to other benefits such as:

  • Other possible benefits.

 All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.

Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $42,431 to $82,585 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
